This Week At Discovery

Greetings everyone!  Thanks for checking in.  Here's to another great week at Discovery!

IMPORTANT REMINDERS:

Clothing Drive:  If you have any used clothing items that are no longer used at your household Discovery School will be collecting them and making a large donation next month.  Please send in any items you wish to donate with your child, or drop them off in the front office.

THIS WEEK'S ACTIVITIES:

Math:  We will start the week by learning the concepts of congruency, shape motions, and symmetry, before turning our attention to studying the ideas of perimeter and area, and methods for calculating the two.  More fun with shapes and figures!!!

Language Arts:  In reading lessons we will continue reading our class novel, 'The Best Christmas Pageant Ever', and analyzing some of the key cause and effect relationships within the story.  We will also examine some of the important cause and effect relationships within our own lives.  In writing periods we will be focused on publishing our first novels.

Science:  We will be learning about wind resistance and how it affects motion.  We will then design vehicles that can harness wind energy to create motion.  More design and motion fun!

Grammar:  Our focus this week will be on common homophones in the English language.  For ex. I read a red book yesterday.

Here's to a great week everybody.  Thanks for reading!!

Jordan and Karen
